The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course not only provides valuable preparation for PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor training, but also expands skills that enhance an AI's professional capacity During the course you'll concentrate on developing an academic presentation style that allows you to effectively conduct classroom sessions for any PADI Diver Course
Upon completion, you may choose to participate in the six day Open Water Scuba Instructor program, or use your practical knowledge and skills as a professional PADI Assistant Instructor
Student Pre-Requisites
Upon successful completion of this course, Assistant Instructor AI's may conduct several PADI programs independently or with minimal guidance from a PADI Instructor. Beyond the responsibilities already earned as a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor teaching opportunities include:
Open Water Dives
There are 2 PADI Open Water teaching presentations, with a passing score of 3.5, and 2 PADI Confined Water teaching presentations with a passing score of 3.4. During the skill demonstration workshop you must score a total of 68 out of 100, with no skill scoring less than a 3, on the required 20 skills.
Knowledge Development Module
The knowledge sessions will review Learning, PADI Instruction & the PADI System, Teaching in Confined Water, Developing Knowledge Development Presentations, PADI Discover Scuba and PADI Snorkeling Programs, Conducting Open Water Training Dives and Teaching PADI Project AWARE & PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy specialties.
Candidates must also demonstrate acceptable performance (75% or higher) in an open book PADI Standards exam and score at least a 3.5 on a knowledge development presentation.

Course Includes
PADI Instructor Candidate Workbook, confined water sessions, open water sessions, knowledge development sessions and Air fills.

A deposit of $250.00 & photocopy of certification levels and medical will secure a place on the next course.
Prior to Course Commencement
Collect and thoroughly study the PADI Instructor Candidate Workbook along with completing Knowledge reviews questions.
Required Equipment
All personal diving equipment; mask, fins, snorkel, BCD, regulator, alternate air source, SPG, appropriate exposure protection, depth gauge, compass and 2 timing devices.
(Rental of equipment can be arranged at preferential rates).
In addition you are also required to have cutting device, whistle, slate, recreational Dive Planner (Table and the Wheel). Candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 underwater lights on night dives.

The PADI Assistant Instructor course develops the certified Divemaster to the next level. The AI course may be on its own or may be incorporated into the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor course. PADI Assistant Instructor courses are run concurrently with full PADI IDC's and upon successful completion the candidate is qualified to conduct many aspects of PADI training independently from an Instructor.
If the AI course has been completed then you only need to attend a six-day PADI Open water Scuba Instructor course and a PADI Instructor Examination exam to achieve the much sought after PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating.
